What is the average GPA?
The abbreviation GPA stands for grade point average and serves as a way to compare your general performance with other students in middle school. The basic scale ranges from 0 to 4.0, where 4.0 is the maximum and equals an A.
A GPA of 3.6 is considered good for a middle school student, as the average is roughly 2.7-3.2. A 4.0 would be the best performance on the basic scale, but achieving such a score is not as easy or common.
Many schools also use pluses and minuses, and then A+ is the highest score of 4.3 (though some cap the top grade at A). Our calculator uses the following table to estimate GPA:
Name | Grade point |
|---|---|
A+ | 4.3 |
A | 4 |
A- | 3.7 |
B+ | 3.3 |
B | 3 |
B- | 2.7 |
C+ | 2.3 |
C | 2 |
C- | 1.7 |
D+ | 1.3 |
D | 1 |
D- | 0.7 |
E/F | 0 |
