How to use the Clomid ovulation calculator?

Our Clomid pregnancy calculator is an extremely simple tool - all you need to do is follow two simple steps:

  1. Enter the first day of your Clomid treatment.
  2. Choose the whole duration of your Clomid treatment.

Our calculator will show you your expected ovulation day as well as your estimated fertility window (that's when you should have intercourse in order to conceive). You may also find useful the basic ovulation calculator.

What is Clomid, and how does it work?

Clomid (Clomiphene citrate) is a drug taken orally and is used in treatment of infertility. It is especially recommended for women with impaired ovulation processes (e.g., those suffering from PCOS).

💡 Women taking Clomid are more prone to have multiple pregnancies (especially twins).

Clomid blocks the effects of estrogens, the female sex hormones that regulate fertility. This drug tricks the body into thinking that there's not enough estrogens, leading to an increase in their production, which leads to ovulation and implantation.

What are the best days to take Clomid for success?

Clomid treatment should be started during the first 5 days of a menstrual cycle. The therapy usually lasts another 5 days. You can have three consecutive treatment cycles. The dose may be increased in case of treatment failure.

How soon do you ovulate after taking Clomid?

The Clomid ovulation day approximately happens one week after the last dose of Clomiphene citrate.

When to have sex on Clomid?

Since the sperm can live up to 7 days inside the female reproductive system, the ovulation day varies from woman to women, and the egg lives for 24 h after its release, the best time to have the intercourse is actually a range of a few days. You can start trying the day after the last dose of Clomid, and increase frequency with which you have sex as the estimated Clomid ovulation gets closer (follow the fertility window calculated with our tool on the left).

Fertilization requires both the ovulation and the good quality of sperm - check everything that you need to know in our sperm analysis calculator.

Calculate it yourself - when will I ovulate on Clomid?

In this section, we'll explain how we created our Clomid calculator. In order to do that, we need to take a closer look at a typical Clomid calendar that starts on the first day of your menstrual cycle:

  • First day - First day of your menstrual cycle;
  • Fourth day - First dose of Clomid (usually 50 mg);
  • Eight day - Last dose of Clomid (5 doses taken altogether);
  • Fifteenth day - Expected ovulation day; and
  • Twenty-fourth day - Expected implantation day.

Now you can see why we used the following equation:

Ovulation = Treatment start + Treatment duration + 7 days

  • A Clomid cycle's length is usually different than a regular menstrual cycle, even though the Clomid ovulation day is expected to be close to a natural ovulation day during a regular 28-days cycle.

  • The Clomid ovulation calculator for a boy is the same as for a girl - once the baby has been conceived it cannot change its gender. The chances for conceiving a boy or a girl are always 50/50.

How many days after taking Clomid do you ovulate?

If you started taking Clomid on the fourth day of your menstrual cycle and took the last dose (5 doses taken altogether) on the eighth day, you should expect to ovulate on the 15th day.

How does Clomid affect ovulation and implantation?

Clomid is a medication that blocks the effects of estrogens, the hormones responsible for regulating fertility in females. In response to the perceived lower estrogen levels, the production of it is increased, ultimately triggering the processes of ovulation and implantation.

How do I calculate when I will ovulate on Clomid?

To determine when you will start ovulating on Clomid, follow these steps:

  1. Note the day you started treatment.
  2. Add the duration of the treatment to the start date.
  3. Add seven days to the value calculated in step 2.
  4. There you have it! You have now calculated when you will ovulate on Clomid.

When will I ovulate if I start Clomid treatment on August 1?

Assuming that your treatment lasts until the eighth day of your cycle, ovulation will occur on August 16, and your fertility window will be from August 9 to August 20. If you want to calculate the day of your ovulation and fertility window quickly, visit Omni's Clomid ovulation calculator.
