Claude vs Gemini: Which Is Best for Finance Professionals?

When we tallied up all the points, Claude Sonnet 5 came out on top with a combined score of 88.8%, beating Gemini 3.6 Flash, which scored 83.5%. When Gemini didn't have to worry about building a visual interface, its raw calculation power and step-by-step logic were clearly superior to Claude's.

Both chatbots delivered flawless performances on general financial knowledge, with both models scoring a perfect 100%. We tried to throw them off with tricky edge cases, niche corporate finance scenarios, and newly updated tax regulations. Neither model flinched. Both Claude and Gemini proved that their underlying financial knowledge base is accurate, thorough, and completely up to date.

These results mean that the best tool really comes down to your specific daily routine. If your job involves building custom mini-tools for clients or creating interactive models to explore different financial scenarios, Claude Sonnet 5 is the clear choice. However, if you just want to paste in a complicated set of numbers and get a fast, accurate mathematical answer without any visual fuss, Gemini 3.6 Flash actually does the job better.

On paper, Claude Sonnet 5 is the overall winner of our benchmark, but that lead is built almost entirely on its ability to generate interactive calculators. If you know you will never use that feature, Gemini 3.6 Flash might actually be the better pick for you thanks to its stronger direct math skills.
