Our natural gas converter is a unique tool that let you convert between different units of measuring natural gas. Whether you want to measure the volume of the gas, or the heat and energy produced, we have it all for you.

We have also prepared a natural gas unit chart just for your convenience, alongside which we will be talking about various units to measure natural gas.

## Units to measure natural gas

Natural gas is one of the most widely used fuels worldwide, and has many units of measurement based on what we're using it for. Among the many uses of natural gas are:

1. Heat generation;
2. Fuel for cooking;
3. Electricity production; and
4. Fuel in cars as compressed natural gas (CNG).

So, it is natural for us to want it measured for different reasons, and hence the wider the range of units, the better.

The units to measure natural gas in terms of volume are:

• Cubic feet, and by extension hundred cubic feet, thousand cubic feet, million cubic feet, and so on;
• Cubic meters, and thus hundred cubic meters, thousand cubic meters, million cubic meters, and so on; and
• Gallons.

The units to measure natural gas in terms of heat and energy generation are:

• Therms;
• British thermal unit (BTU);
• Barrels of oil equivalent (BOE); and
• Joules.

Take a look at the choices available in our tool — there's way more options to choose from than what's mentioned above.

## Natural Gas Converter

Our natural gas converter is a unique but swiftly straightforward tool. All you have to do is enter the quantity in the unit of your choice and make sure you select the proper unit for the output. The calculation is instantaneous.

For instance, you might enter $2,600 \text { joules}$ and select $\text{BTU}$ to convert to. The converter would determine that $2,600 \text { joules } = 2.465 \text { BTU}$.

Many other names are given to tools and methods that convert natural gas measurements between the substance's common units. These include:

• Natural gas unit conversion calculator;
• Natural gas units calculator; and
• Natural gas unit conversion.

These would all do the same thing: convert between various units of measuring natural gas.

## Natural gas units chart

Natural gas is a significant industrial and domestic fuel. The basic unit to measure it is cubic feet, but there are many other units that help us measure the volume and energy produced.

We have prepared a natural gas unit chart just for you. Now you may convert between the units in a jiffy without relying on tools.

It is noteworthy that according to 2017 figures, the world consumes $132,290,211 \text { MMCF}$ (million cubic feet) of natural gas each year.

💡 We also have an energy conversion calculator, that converts energy between a wide range of various units.

## FAQ

### Which unit is used to measure natural gas?

Natural gas can be measured in terms of its volume and the amount of heat or energy it generates. The units that measure the volume of natural gas are cubic feet, hundred cubic feet, thousand cubic feet, million cubic feet, and so on.

### What is m³ in natural gas?

Cubic meters or m3 is the unit of measuring the volume of natural gas. It is sold or purchased in terms of the required volume.

There are other units that measure the energy and heat generation of fuels, such as joules and therms.

### How many cubic meters of natural gas is 96 ft³?

96 cubic feet (ft3) of natural gas is equal to 2.688 cubic meters (m3) of natural gas. Both ft3 and m3 are units to measure the volume of the gas.

The conversion factor between cubic feet and cubic meters is:

1 m3 = 35.3107 ft3

So,

96 / 35.3107 = 2.688 m3

### How can I convert natural gas from ft³ to BTU?

The conversion between the BTU and ft³ is based on:

1 ft3 = 1,039 BTU

The steps to convert from ft3 to BTU are:

1. Note down the quantity in ft3;
2. Multiply it by 1,039; and
3. The result is the quantity in BTU.

BTU stands for British Thermal Units. It is a unit to measure the heat energy produced by fuels, in this case, natural gas. The unit ft3 measures the volume of the natural gas produced or consumed.
